Vitamin C Burst | IMPROVED Specialized Formula | Hay Topper, Forage | High Vitamin C | Ideal for Guinea Pigs | Stress Aid for Rabbits

$4.25

This amazing vitamin C booster is loaded with a blend of specialized herbs, fruit, and vegetables that are all high in vitamin C. This blend is designed with guinea pigs in mind but is not limited to our cavy friends; rabbits and other small pets can benefit from it as well, especially in stressful situations.

We believe that "food is thy medicine" - vitamin C tablets are fine but supplementing the diet with this specialized blend is even better because these are all natural, whole food sources of vitamin C. Many vitamins and minerals are better assimilated into the body when they are in their whole food state. Our friends over at Small Pet Select describe it perfectly:

" “Whole food” means something to eat that is still in it’s entire, natural state, and is “bioavailable”. A whole food can be dried or powdered or frozen. But it remains what it is. Nothing is removed, extracted, or otherwise isolated from the original plant. A berry containing vitamin C is a whole food. A leaf, even dried and powdered, is still a whole food. A vitamin C pill is NOT a whole food."

Vitamin C is of utmost importance to guinea pigs, as they are unable to manufacture their own (much like humans). Without enough vitamin C in their diets, guinea pigs can become very ill with scurvy. The amount of vitamin C required varies somewhat depending on the reference source used, but most guinea pigs probably need about 10-30 mg/day. Pregnant, nursing, young, and ill guinea pigs need more. (https://www.thesprucepets.com/feeding-guinea-pigs-1236840)

Frequently Asked Questions

Suitable For Disclaimer

Please keep in mind that the dosages we provide are specific to rabbits. We recommend that you consult with a vet for specific dosages for other species.

Age Minimum for Products

Per our mentor's advice, we recommend that your pet be 2 months or older to enjoy our treat products. Always introduce new foods slowly and mindfully to ensure they do not negatively affect your pet. Your pet can enjoy our toys at any age under supervision.

Chew Toys Disclaimer

Small pets should only have chew toys under supervised play and toys should be removed if your pet begins to primarily consume rather than chew the toy. Excessive consumption of fibrous objects can lead to serious GI blockages. Fibrous products include: loofahs, water hyacinth, edible twine, apple/pear/willow twigs, vine twirls.

Packaging for Duplicate Items

PRODUCT PACKAGING: As an eco-friendly business, we try as much as we possibly can to cut down on waste. Therefore, whenever IDENTICAL treats/herbs are ordered (i.e. two bags of Happy Belly Biscuits or five 3oz bags of Blanco's Blend), we always bag them together to reduce waste. We will always respect your wishes if you prefer that they be bagged separately (for example, if you are buying one for yourself and one as a gift) - just message us or write a note on your order and we are happy to do so!

Eco-Friendly

We use 100% compostable, resealable zipper pouches, heat seal bags, and recyclable zipper pouches. Our compostable bags/pouches are entirely industrial or home compostable certified. They have superior strength, are freezer-safe, and have an excellent oxygen and moisture barrier!

All product boxes, tissue/parchment paper, & labels are recycled.

Our packaging materials are all recyclable and/or reused from our vendors.

Legal Disclaimer

The Well Kept Rabbit is not responsible for accidents, illnesses or injuries that occur from use of our products.

Expiration / Best By Dates

We recommend that you use all of our handmade treats within 2 months for optimal freshness.

Shipping Overages

Shipping is calculated by weight, box dimensions, and destination. Etsy's algorithm is sometimes spot on, yet sometimes it's way off. We find this to be the case with heavier/larger items like our cleaner and maze havens.

It is our policy to ALWAYS refund shipping overages when they exceed $5 or more.
