This amazing vitamin C booster is loaded with a blend of specialized herbs, fruit, and vegetables that are all high in vitamin C. This blend is designed with guinea pigs in mind but is not limited to our cavy friends; rabbits and other small pets can benefit from it as well, especially in stressful situations.
We believe that "food is thy medicine" - vitamin C tablets are fine but supplementing the diet with this specialized blend is even better because these are all natural, whole food sources of vitamin C. Many vitamins and minerals are better assimilated into the body when they are in their whole food state. Our friends over at Small Pet Select describe it perfectly:
" “Whole food” means something to eat that is still in it’s entire, natural state, and is “bioavailable”. A whole food can be dried or powdered or frozen. But it remains what it is. Nothing is removed, extracted, or otherwise isolated from the original plant. A berry containing vitamin C is a whole food. A leaf, even dried and powdered, is still a whole food. A vitamin C pill is NOT a whole food."
Vitamin C is of utmost importance to guinea pigs, as they are unable to manufacture their own (much like humans). Without enough vitamin C in their diets, guinea pigs can become very ill with scurvy. The amount of vitamin C required varies somewhat depending on the reference source used, but most guinea pigs probably need about 10-30 mg/day. Pregnant, nursing, young, and ill guinea pigs need more. (https://www.thesprucepets.com/feeding-guinea-pigs-1236840)

I wanted something that would give my guinea pigs a little bit of fun and flavor to go along with their Vitamin C since the tablets from Oxbow are great, but bland. The Vitamin C Burst from The Well Kept Rabbit is fabulous! It's super aromatic and visually beautiful and the pigs love it.
