Cranberries are definitely a fan-favorite in our household! They are especially helpful for small pets who are prone to urinary tract infections.
Cranberries contain various phytochemicals that have been found to help protect the brain from age related deterioration, lessen light-induced retinal damage, and prevent bacteria from attaching to the lining of the rabbit urinary tract.
Cranberries also have flavanols and proanthocyanidins that help prevent tooth decay and have an anti-inflammatory effect. It has also been suggested by some researchers that cranberries may help protect rabbit kidneys from infection-induced damage.
Remember that while dried organic fruit is a safe treat, it is highly concentrated in sugar which can disrupt gut flora. It is advisable to give in small, periodic doses (which makes it even more special as a treat!).
We only use fresh 100% organic fruits (sourcing locally when in season) and there are absolutely no preservatives, additives, coloring, etc.

My boys love them! The doctor recommended two dried or fresh cranberries a day for the rest of my one rabbit’s life. He recently had urinary crystals and once a rabbit gets them they are more likely to have them in the future. Needless to say, my partner and I went on a wild goose chase to find cranberries. No fresh ones (out of season), and all the dried ones had apple juice or cane sugar on them. These are a healthy treat and a good long term prevention for the two of them. Thank you 💜
